The No Printout Playbook: Piano Games with Little to No Prep?!

There are so many creative and fun piano games out there! However, most require some type of prep time beforehand. As a mom, I just don’t have the luxury of having time to prep cute materials and resources before lessons.

I need something I can pull from in the moment with objects I already have lying around my house. This is what lead me to create THE NO PRINTOUT PLAYBOOK.

How many of us are in the middle of a piano lesson with a student, and the student is struggling with a specific concept or with staying on task and we JUST WISH we had a piano game to whip out on the spot but we didn't have time to prep anything beforehand.

This is why I created the NO PRINTOUT PLAYBOOK! It is a downloadable PDF booklet that you can use ON THE SPOT to teach concepts such as key recognition, note reading, rhythm, and other music theory.

Overview of the NO PRINTOUT PLAYBOOK

The NO PRINTOUT PLAYBOOK is a resource designed to inspire creativity in piano lessons with games that require little things that you most likely already have around the house, or even no materials at all!

Some of the games require objects such as toy cars, a ball, a digital dice app on your smartphone, etc.

The idea is that the piano teacher will be able to pull out a game without a moment's notice that is both engaging for the student and meets them where their needs are.

This may sound silly...but why is it important to have games in piano lessons?

Games bring an exciting element to the traditional setting of piano lessons.

Not only does it bring enjoyment to the student, but often times it also brings joy to the teacher as they move away from teaching the same lesson 6...10…even 15 times or more per day.

Studies also show that combining multiple learning styles to teach a concept helps students with retention and understanding.

Hence the reason why the NO PRINTOUT PLAYBOOK includes games that are multi-sensory. When a teacher combines visual and auditory learning, or visual and tactile function, or a combination of several senses of the body, students absorb the information in a way that actually sticks with them in the long-term.
